Payments that don’t eat into your margins

The payments layer for your restaurant

  • Most restaurants take payments with a card machine brought to the table. Increasingly, restaurants are taking payments with Pay by Bank, where the guest scans a QR code on the bill and pays from their own bank app.
  • A restaurant EPOS ties the menu, tables, orders and reporting together. Atoa is the payments layer that sits alongside it, so you can take cards and Pay by Bank, let guests tip, and keep more of every order by paying lower fees.

How it works?

Book a demo
  1. Step 1

    Ring up the sale

Your server closes the table on the POS and brings up the payment on any screen — a tablet, phone or till display.

  2. Step 2

    The QR code appears

The guest scans it with their phone. Nothing to download, and it works with all major UK banks.

  3. Step 3

    They choose how to pay

Pay by Bank, approved in their bank app with Face ID, fingerprint or passcode. Or card, entered at checkout. Prefer to tap? The Atoa terminal is available too.

  4. Step 4

    Add a tip

Guests can add a tip for the team right at the point of payment, before they confirm.

  5. Step 5

    Payment confirmed. Review requested.

Once the payment goes through, the guest is prompted to leave a Google review — a seamless nudge that builds your reputation with every cover.

Keep more of every cover

Lower fees

Pay by Bank from 0.6% + VAT and cards from 1.3%.* Every cover costs less to process.

Google reviews built in

Every completed payment prompts the guest to leave a Google review, so great service builds your reputation.

UK-based support from day one

Our UK care team handles onboarding, training and account support from the moment you sign up.

Built for your team

Register staff as cashiers or supervisors with different levels of access on the Atoa platform, so the right people can take payments and the right people can manage the account.

No card machine needed

The QR code works on any screen at the table: a smartphone, tablet or till display. No terminal to carry between tables. Payment links handle deposits and advance bookings too.

Tips that reach the team

Guests add a tip right at the point of payment on the QR checkout. No awkward asks, no waiting.

Faster tables

Guests who want to pay and go do not have to wait for a card machine. They scan the QR code, choose Pay by Bank or card, and they are out the door. Covers turn faster and the experience is better for everyone.

Watertight security

Every Pay by Bank payment is authenticated by the customer’s own bank using Face ID or fingerprint, making fraud risk minimal. Card payments are PCI compliant. Neither you nor your staff ever handle raw card data.

*Card rates vary based on card type, business size and average transaction value. Business cards and American Express typically attract higher rates.

The best EPOS depends on your menu, table plan and reporting needs. Options like Tevalis and PointOne are built for the hospitality industry. For the payments side, Atoa lets you take card and Pay by Bank at the table and works alongside your EPOS, so you keep the system that suits your kitchen and add lower-cost payments on top.

Restaurants take payments at the table with a card machine, and increasingly with Pay by Bank, where the guest scans a QR code and pays from their Bank app. With Atoa you can offer both, plus payment links for deposits and advance bookings, all in one dashboard.

When guests pay by QR code or link, they can add a tip at the point of payment, so the team gets tipped. After paying, they are also prompted to leave a Google review.

No, it will not. Atoa is the payments layer and works alongside your existing EPOS provider.

Yes. Atoa Payments Limited is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN #1007647), and is ISO 27001 and SOC 2 certified.
